Story:
Thikra is 34 years old female from Ankawa, Iraq who has suffered neglected Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH). Her only chance for improving her physical disability and discomfort is through hip replacement.
The patient was referred to the Assyrian Medical Society by Dr. Srood Maqdasy of Iraq. The Medical Relief Project of the AMS has approved her care. The surgery was arranged to take place in a hospital in Halab, Syria. The patient and her escort were transported to Damascus by air at a cost of over $1400. Preoperative visits were arranged. However, the patient decided to hold on the surgery until the coming summer.
